Plugging Away - What Other Choice Is There??!

Since last night (including a stint when I woke up for two hours at 4:30 this morning) I have been working really, really hard on disinfecting the house and cleaning messes... getting the old caulk out of my bathtub, which admittedly was not in great shape, and disinfecting, drying and recaulking... as well as lysoling and bleaching and lathering and soaping and peroxiding every surface in sight, and spraying down every soft surface I think can take it with Oust or Lysol spray... I am determined to kill the dang staph infection in the house... and on me. I am SO very very very squicked out by all this.

The house *smells* better, anyway. THAT's something. Whoosh.

However, I am going to put all this down for now and work hard on homework for the rest of the night. Tomorrow, when Crash is home, I am going to help clean again, but tonight I am going to study as much as I possibly can; I have stuff due on Monday... as well as two outside projects to tend to and return results on by Tuesday. Some Spring Break this has been!

Meanwhile, the snow has been melting all day - it got up to 42 today, and should hit the upper fifties tomorrow. It was gorgeous today - sunny and blue-skied. Just a very pretty day. It did make it easier to be cleaning... and then made for a very cozy nap late this afternoon. I'm smiling again now after a bout of feeling sorry for myself around 3pm.

OK. Time to hit the books. Hmmm. I'm going to wipe them down with Lysol wipes first, though.

::shaking head:: Yanno, I just couldn't make this up. LOL

Oh My Goodness!!

I am so sorry I worried y'all! I must admit it has been a long - and at times dicey - week. Let me see if I can fill you in quickly; I'm terribly tired and need to get to bed, but the kind e-mails have spurred me to write at least a short ::chuckle:: explanation.

  • Plumbing The plumbing saga is far from over. I can't remember where I left off, but we now have a new sewer service from the house to the street, and new fresh water service from the street to the house - and a devastated front yard after all the trenches were dug and filled. The mess under the house is still a mess, and they are plugging away at it, but needed to stop on that to concentrate on the outdoor stuff before today's weather came storming in (We got four inches of snow today. In Memphis. In March. Yeah... the city pretty much shut down.) They are estimating another week to a week and a half to get everything completed.
  • Endoscopy / Colonoscopy Well, let's see. First of all, I have a severe case of gastritis and a whole bunch of erosions in my stomach. No wonder I've been miserable for so long. Lower scan came back visually pretty well, but lots of biopsies up and down, so we're waiting on results (about 14 days from last Wednesday) before we go much further. Meds changes and dietary restrictions and changes... we're working on making better choices. Now, for the excitement... while I was under sedation, my blood pressure tanked pretty badly and they went into high gear; said if I hadn't responded as rapidly as I had, I would have gotten a ride in the meat wagon and visited the hospital for a while. Oops. So I was really tired for a couple days... but am feeling much better now. Well, kind of. See below.
  • Infection?? So two or three nights ago I broke out in some small pimples on my torso and groin. Late this morning I got up and they were the size of quarters with aureolae the size of silver dollars or better... I freaked out and called the primary care doc's office and they worked me in as the last appointment of the day. Thank goodness. Ends up I have a raging staph infection, most likely from the sewer problem (I'd had a small one like this late last week, but it resolved quickly... these... not so much). So I have spent the rest of the day scrubbing and scrubbing and scrubbing surfaces in this house with lysol and bleach and every other antibiotic-type cleanser I can think of... the toilet, the tub, the sinks, the floors, the doorknobs... everything. And I have even ordered antibiotic/antifungal shampoo for the kitties and dog for next week when all the plumbing is over and done with so I can rid their fur and paws of the sewer dirt, too. I am so grossed out by this. And staph infections are just so impossible to get rid of. BAH!
  • SNOW Did I mention it snowed today?? Crash is in Jackson where they also saw snow... but it is gorgeous here... and the roads are kinda bad... Memphis is impossible in the snow. But pretty. I'll take it, even if it *is* March.

Anyway, that's my *short* explanation of where I have been and what I have been up to. There's been more, mundane stuff going on, but these are the biggies, and every day I have been talking to Dad saying, "Do you want the good news first or the bad news?" It really has been one of those weeks. I am so sorry I was cause for alarm - but thank you so much for those of you who e-mailed me in a bit of a panic... I really didn't realize it had been so long since I posted.

Love y'all, miss you, and I wil try to be better about posting. Hope you are, each and every one of you, doing well. ::smooches::
